People: Hyatt Tahoe's Melissa Woodley promoted to area director role

The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort and Resort at Squaw Creek recently announced Melissa Woodley as area director of events and event operations; she has been promoted from director of events at the Hyatt Tahoe in Incline Village.


“I am thrilled to be named the area director of events and event operations for two incredible resorts here in North Lake Tahoe,” Woodley said in a statement. “Both properties provide incredible event opportunities, from magical outdoor weddings that showcase our mountainous setting, to unforgettable lakefront experiences for groups. I look forward to working with wedding couples, groups and organizations to curate one-of-a-kind functions that complement our iconic destination.”


With nearly 15 years of experience working in the hospitality industry, Woodley began her career as an event administrative assistant at Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, according to a July 28 press release.


Over the years, she has held various management positions at locations such as Andaz San Diego and Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort in Hawaii.


In her role new role, she is responsible for providing support and guidance to the events teams at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe and Resort at Squaw Creek.


Woodley received her B.S. in restaurant and resort management from Colorado State University. She is a member of the Reno-Tahoe Chapter of the National Association of Catering and Events and the Tahoe Wedding Industry Group.


In 2020, Woodley was part of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe team that was recognized as Hyatt Corporate’s “Hotel Team of the Year” award for their work in adapting resort procedures and overcoming the challenges faced by the resort due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
