Skin Cancer Dermatology Institute, which has 9 locations throughout Northern Nevada and in Truckee, plans to open its 10th office this year and has chosen Shaheen Beauchamp Builders as general contractor for the roughly 8,500-square-foot building in the Monte Vista Development in Northwest Reno.

According to a Jan. 22 press release, the new building “will help meet a large demand for dermatological healthcare in Northern Nevada” and will offer treatments such as general dermatology, skin cancer treatment and various cosmetic services.

“The new building will serve as our fourth office in the Reno area and is the second building we have worked with Shaheen Beauchamp Builders to complete,” Dr. Bret Blackhart, board-certified dermatologist with Skin Cancer Dermatology Institute, said in a statement. “Years ago, we worked with them to build our Carson City office. They were very professional, honest and gave us realistic estimates on the cost and timeframe, that is why we are happy to be working with them again.”

Reno-based Frame Architecture will serve as lead architect on the project.

“We designed the building to include a lobby with many north-facing windows,” Jeff Frame, architect with Frame Architecture, said in a statement. “North light is consistent throughout the day and should offer a really nice environment for patients and employees. We also spent some extra time with site design. The volume of patients will be high, so we wanted to make sure to give them plenty of access and efficient parking.”

The design team will include Summit Engineering as civil engineer consultant, CFBR as structural engineering consultant, EEI as mechanical engineering consultant, and JP Engineering as electrical engineering consultant.

“We value our long-term relationships with clients and our building partners in the northern Nevada region,” Mark Beauchamp, co-founder of Shaheen Beauchamp Builders, stated. “Those relationships go a long way in allowing us to work on projects that provide needed services for the communities we live in.”
