Four Reno tattoo parlors are partnering give back to local youth living in Reno’s downtown motels.

Aces Tattoo (675 S. Virginia St.), Lasting Dose Tattoo (888 S. Virginia St.), Evolution Tattoo (1092 S. Virginia St., Ste. D) and Wolf City Tattoo (1500 S. Virginia St.) are collecting backpacks, socks, underwear, blankets and toys for children ages 4-12.

Bins will be set up through Nov. 21 at each of the four businesses; all donations must be in new condition.

According to a Nov. 3 press release, all participants who donate an item receives a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of four $500 tattoo gift certificates, four $250 gift certificates or shop swag. Raffle tickets can also be purchased for $20 each, with all proceeds going to purchase items for the kids.

Jake Griffin, tattoo artist for Aces Tattoo, decided to start this fundraiser to give back to the kids in the community, after growing up in similar circumstances, per the release.

“I grew up in a family of addicts and lived with constant displacement,” Griffin said in a statement. “We knew families who lived week to week in different motels, always having to struggle with being the less fortunate ones at school. I want to host this fundraiser to show these kids that they too are thought of, they have a voice, and should have the same chances as the kids at school with multiple outfits and hot lunches.

“I’d like to think that these kids could go to sleep, if not for just one night, knowing that they too are relevant and loved.”
