Nevada Urban Indians’ Carson City clinic expands services

Nevada Urban Indians opened its satellite clinic in Carson City in 2018 and now is expanding its hours and services with medical care, mental health counseling, and prevention education, according to a news release.
NUI is an Urban Indian Health Organization which has been providing health promotion, disease prevention services and youth group activities in Northern Nevada for over 47 years.
NUI’s Carson City satellite clinic is located at 236 E. Winnie Lane. With new hours of operation – Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., medical services, COVID vaccines, and mental health counseling is offered. The daily schedule varies by program.
Mental Health Counseling is offered for individual, couples and families, Monday-Wednesday.
Victim Services advocates provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence; Partnership For Success Program offers substance abuse and suicide prevention education for youth and families; Health clinic offers primary care visits, women’s wellness exams, sports physicals, child and adult vaccines and immunizations, well-child visits, diabetes screening and education, chronic disease management and referrals.
NUI was awarded a grant from the Carson Tahoe Health Community Partnership Fund which supports projects that work to advance health equity and improve access to healthcare. Working together with partners like Carson Tahoe Health, NUI will have greater capacity to help meet the health challenges facing American Indians and Alaska Natives and other vulnerable people in the Carson City region.
NUI offers a sliding fee scale for all uninsured or under-insured patients for all programs. NUI accepts most private insurances and Medicaid. The Carson City clinic is located at 236 E. Winnie Lane, 775-350-7701, and the Reno clinic is located at 6512 S. McCarran Blvd., Suite A-C, 775-788-7600.
