Saint Mary’s Health Network patient navigator Carla Mazza was recently named the 2021 employee of the year.
Mazza has been an invaluable part of the Saint Mary’s family for over 31 years, having initially joined the Saint Mary’s team as a transporter before advancing to her current role as the patient navigator.
Part of what Mazza is known for is the empathy that she shares with each and every patient.
As a direct example that occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mazza successfully assisted a worried immunocompromised patient who needed to complete an annual mammogram. Mazza assured the patient of their protection throughout the duration of the visit and provided guidance during the imaging process to help the patient feel safe. This is one of many examples of Mazza’s commitment to patients.
