NAIOP Northern Nevada named small chapter winner

NAIOP Northern Nevada is pleased to announce that the chapter was awarded for their legislative/government affairs program at the 2022 NAIOP Chapter Merit Awards. Recipients of the awards are selected by a committee of their peers comprised of volunteer judges.

To communicate effectively on development with state and local government officials, the NAIOP Northern Nevada Development Council was created in January 2020. The small group composed of industry leaders meet regularly to discuss important regional issues and help guide the association in public policy positions and actions. They are also responsible for funding local government affairs and lobbying efforts.

Additionally, the Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Matt Harris with Avison Young, is the most well-attended monthly committee meeting. Monthly lunch meetings typically include guest speakers, government staffers, or elected officials. The group gives feedback on the impact of commercial development and makes recommendations to the Development Council and the Board of Directors.

Legislative efforts by the chapter also include a collaborative working relationship with NAIOP Southern Nevada to retain a lobbyist team for the biennial Legislative Sessions, targeted urgent “Calls to Action” when campaigns require mass emails to be sent or calls to be made to elected officials, and strategic communication with specific elected officials.

NAIOP Northern Nevada, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, is an association of developers, owners, investors and professionals of office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate.

They promote responsible development through advocacy, networking and education to benefit the economic vitality of the communities in which we work and live. Visit http://naiopnnv.com/ for more information.
