Great Basin Brewing Co. plans to open brewpub this fall in Douglas County

Locally produced meat and beer will be on tap by fall of this year at the new Great Basin Brewing Co. under construction near the Minden-Gardnerville boundary.

Local Food Group announced in July that the new location will offer Park Ranch Meats in a gourmet food and butcher shop.

“This project in Minden is a dream come true,” said Local Food Group CEO Mark Estee. “The ability to have locally sourced meat and products under the same roof as Great Basin Brewing Co. is the perfect marriage. Our team and David Park have been working together for so long, that when he presented this idea, we jumped in with both feet first. Local beef, recycling grain, artisan products, microbrew system and of course amazing food.”

The brewery’s craft beer will have 16 taps, a pilot brew system – which will be used to experiment with new beer styles, a full bar, state-of-the-art gaming, and HDTVs. The menu will feature burgers made from Park Ranch Meats, New York and Detroit-style pizzas, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, wings, crispy fries and soft serve ice cream.

Once open, customers will be able to order directly from the counter and grab a table, booth or head out to the outdoor patio. Online and call-in orders will also be available with curbside delivery.

The brewpub will be home to Park Ranch Meats – a boutique shop selling handmade goods from Liberty Artisan Meats including sausages, salami, pastas, sauces, cheeses, breads and meal kits. A butcher counter will allow customers to choose from a wide selection of Park Ranch Meats beef, pork and lamb. The shop will also carry a wide variety of to-go beverages, such as, Great Basin craft beers, beers from other local breweries and a delightful selection of wine and spirits.

“My family has been ranching in the Carson Valley since the late 1800s and it has always been a dream of mine to make our locally raised meats available for everyone to enjoy,” said Park Ranch Meats owner David Park, Owner of Park Ranch Meats. “With the opening of Park Ranch Meats, that dream becomes a reality by bringing the freshest, highest-quality cuts along with other locally sourced items all into a single shop.”

Local Food Group has operated the Overland in Gardnerville for the Park family over the last five years. The Parks purchased the venerable restaurant in 2014 and renovated its more than 120-year-old home.
