Hermann Cabeje

The Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living board of directors has two additions.

Hermann Cabeje started his relationship with NNCIL when he earned a scholarship to attend the NCIL National Conference in Washington, D.C., in 2022.

Cabeje has been a special education teacher for the past 12 years, teaching at West Wendover since 2018. He earned his master’s in education from Roosevelt University in 2008, after working as an ESL instructor.

Lauralynn Sluyter

Lauralynn Sluyter discovered NNCIL through a Blind and Low Vision Peer Support Group in Fallon. Sluyter, who lives with Multiple Sclerosis that sometimes affects her vision, says she knows how hard it can be to find resources so she’s excited about helping others find what they need to live independently. She lives in Fallon with her husband Keith, a vision and mobility dog named Scout and three cats.
