We are parents with children at both lake and valley schools. We support the reelection of George Echan as Douglas County School Board Representative for Area 3 (Lake Tahoe District).
George is a 20-year Douglas County resident and a proven community leader. Besides serving on the school board for two years, he has served twice as President of the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber of Commerce, was the President of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and a member of the Douglas County Planning Commission. He has acted as a voluntary arbitrator for Douglas County courts and has been a member of both lake and valley service clubs.
As a school board member, George is squarely behind the implementation of higher standards which are required to make our children successful citizens, whether they go on to college or enter the work force.
He believes in the implementation of a district education plan to give help to those students who may be struggling and to provide more advanced instruction for high achievers.
He has been instrumental in achieving budgeting to replace obsolescent computer hardware and software and has urged Internet and other remote learning classes for academic and vocational alternatives.
George believes that our children want more and can do more if only adults have the courage to lead the way. The Douglas County School District is in the middle of one of the most ambitious education reforms in the country. We support leaders who want the best for our children, not ones who look for excuses for mediocrity. Please join us in voting for George Echan, School Board Area 3.
