A Mass of Resurrection for Thomas Martin Ryan, 60, a Gardnerville resident for the past 24 years, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gall Catholic Church.
Mr. Ryan died Dec. 4, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Los Angeles to Harvey and Valeda Carroll Ryan.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Carson, Calif.
He married Sandra F. Merola Aug. 8, 1959, in Los Angeles.
Mr. Ryan was a steam boiler operator at Caesars Tahoe for 23 years. He was a member of The National Board of Steam Engineers. He enjoyed motorcycles, gardening, hiking, fishing, woodcraft, stained glass, and animals, and he loved the neighborhood children.
He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1957-61.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife Sandy and son Duane T., both of Gardnerville; daughter Darleen M. Ryan of Lahaina, Maui; sisters Jean Ann Shively of San Pedro, Calif. and Kathryn L. Light of Cleveland, Ohio; and grandchildren Chantel, Chelsea, Channae and Skyler.
