Brief: strategies for dealing with defiant child

Defiance and resistance from children are predictable aspects of parenting from time to time, authorities say.

For some parents, it is not just the occasional disagreement or act of disobedience, but defiance has become a constant part of their everyday lives with their children.

Parents experiencing this type of defiant behavior from their child, especially coupled with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, may want to attend a workshop hosted by the Family Support Council.

This workshop will explain Oppositional Defiant Disorder and what puts children at risk. It will discuss strategies for dealing with defiant behavior and what helps and what doesn't.

The workshop will be held from 6-9 p.m. March 30 at Family Support Council. There will be free child care on the premises. Preregistration is required. Call 782-8692.
