City leaders still working on Costco's response

Carson City leaders are still drafting a response to Costco's letter of intent to build on land across the street from Fuji Park.

City Manager John Berkich said the response, which is due today, would be reviewed by Costco officials today.

The letter of intent received from from the warehouse company last week is a precursor to a purchase sales agreement and sets out a few preliminary negotiating points for the city to follow. It is not legally binding to either party.

Costco officials have said they will build a 145,000 square-foot warehouse and gas station in south Carson City if the process to add 15 acres of city-owned property to the redevelopment district succeeds. City supervisors will decide on the land change Jan. 6.
