Gibbons secures federal dollars for Nevada's military bases

WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., said Tuesday Nevada's military installations are in line to receive more than $16 million in federal funding for construction in next year's Military Construction Appropriations Act.

Gibbons joined his colleagues in approving the measure by a vote of 386 to 22.

"Nevada is home to two of our nation's premiere military training installations," said Gibbons, a member of the House Armed Services Committee. "As a veteran, I know how critical it is that Nellis and Fallon have the resources necessary to maintain their edge and get their jobs done right."

Nellis Air Force Base will get $5 million for 26 units of new family housing.

Fallon Naval Air Station will get $6.28 million for a new corrosion control hanger. Fallon will also get $5 million to replace operating fuel tanks.
