Holiday Memories: Yosemite

My most unforgettable Christmas would be the year my wife and I spent in Yosemite Valley as camp hosts. It was the first Christmas we had been away from our children who are now grown up and out on their own. If you have never been in Yosemite in the winter, you are really missing something. It is quiet, and there are very few tourists. The snow covers El Capitan and Halfdome. There is very little snow in the valley as the altitude in the valley is about the same as Carson City.

I will always remember that Christmas with my wife and our dog. We decorated our fifth wheel with a small tree, lights and all the trimmings. We socialized with tourists from all around the world and learned their traditions. These are our memories.

Al and Marilyn Williams have lived in Carson City for 28 years. Al is retired from the Navy and also the State of Nevada where he worked in the Department of Prisons and the Parole and Probation Department. Marilyn is a cosmetologist at Finer Image. They have six children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
