Gardnerville building purchased

A Gardnerville commercial building that once was the home of photo-finish cameras used at racetracks across the country has been sold.

The building at 1317 and 1321 Highway 395 previously was known as the Nevada Sport Building.

The 9,500-square-foot structure sits on 2.77 acres zoned for neighborhood commercial.

Sales price was $1.25 million with owner financing.

The structure was built in 1966 for Thorobred Photo Service Inc.

The company made photographic systems installed at racetracks throughout the United States.

Bob and Yoshiko Oswald, inventors of the photo system, were the previous owners of the building.

Yoshiko Oswald remains in business as a camera importer.

Frank Benvenuto and James Darrough of RE/MAX Realty Affiliates at Gardnerville were the listing brokers.

The selling broker was David Cloutier of Century 21-Tahoe Pines.

Benvenuto said a major facelift is planned for the building.
