Charles E. Johnston, 79, a Gardnerville resident for the past 13 years, died May 24, 2002, at his home. He was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., to Charles E. and Marie Johnston.
Mr. Johnston worked for 40 years as a teamster truck driver, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
He served for three years in the U.S. Navy.
Among his survivors are his wife Bettye of Gardnerville; sister Sharon Delk of California; six children; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
