Column promotes Carson company

A Carson City company that makes an estimating tool for construction and home projects last week launched a newspaper column in hopes of winning some publicity for its product.

Calculated Industries rolled out the "Work Smart" series written by Don Logay.

He's been the editor of three magazines for professional remodelers and writes a series of homeowner tips broadcast daily on radio stations across the country.

Each of the columns, which will be distributed via Internet press release sites to newspapers, shares tricks for home improvement projects such as painting, woodworking or common repairs.

The columns include ways that readers can use the ProjectCalc tool made by Calculated Industries.

The tool is a specialized calculator loaded with estimating tools such as the space that would be covered by a standard roll of wallpaper or the amount of paint needed to cover an area.

It's sold at hardware stores across the nation.
