James Russell Thurmond Jr.

A service for James Russell Thurmond Jr., 51, will be at 2 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mr. Thurmond died Dec. 10, 2003, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Reno. He was born June 1, 1952, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to James Russell and Geraldine Hickethier Thurmond.

Mr. Thurmond was a welder. He enjoyed motorcycles, playing the guitar and helping friends. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Among his survivors are his wife, Linda, of Stagecoach; mother, of Minden; son, James Russell III, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; brother, Dan, of Minden; sisters Cyndi Dickerson of Sweetwater, Texas, and Lynne Thurmond of South Pasadena, Calif.; and stepson, Trevor Morris of Stagecoach.
