Grace Juanita Cliburn

A funeral for Grace Juanita Cliburn, 85, a Gardnerville resident for the past 15 years, will be at 3 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Richardson Peterson Funeral Home in Ontario, Calif., followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. there.

Mrs. Cliburn died Dec. 27, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born June 29, 1918, in Webb City, Mo., to Thomas and Addah Packer Winter.

She married Warren Cliburn on July 2, 1939, in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death in 1978 in Ontario.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Ontario for 41 years.

Mrs. Cliburn was a homemaker and worked for many restaurants in the Ontario area. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corp., Ladies Auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Association; Women of the Moose; Ontario PTA; and Cub, Boy and Girl Scouts.

She loved cooking, fund-raising for local charities, and making macrame clothes hangers. She was a Protestant.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Harry Smith, Kenneth Winter and Wilburn Winter; sister, Naomi Seward Olds; and stepbrothers Ray Watson, Eugene Watson and Wayne Watson.

Among her survivors are her sons Raymond of Visalia, Calif., Warren of Boring, Ore., and Tom of Davie, Wash.; daughters Caroline Russell of Carlsbad, Calif., Addah Dunnof of Gardnerville, Judy Suter of Bishop, Calif., Martha Dodd of Glen Avon, Calif., and Ruth Maehling of Brighton, Mich.; foster son, Joe Righetti of Washington; sisters-in-law Warene Cruz of Beaumont, Calif., and Lolita Winter of Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Burial will be at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario.
