Obituary: Mary Lockie

A funeral for Mary Alta Allum Lockie will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lockie died July 3, 2003, in Elko. She was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Yerington. A third-generation Nevadan, she was descended from pioneer families that settled in Yerington and Smith Valley in the mid-1800s.

After completing her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, she taught elementary school in Yerington for 10 years. She raised her family then went back to work and retired from the state of Nevada.

Mrs. Lockie enjoyed her family, friends, swimming, gardening, volleyball, music and children.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Allum.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, David and Teri Lockie; daughters and sons-in-law Joanne and Dale Storms of Elko and Brenda and Stan Lockie-Knight of Carson City; grandchildren Chris, Chelsea and Annika Lockie, Sarah and Rachel Storms and Ian and Leah Knight; sister, Martha Diehl of Yerington; three nieces; and one nephew.
