San Diego couple, Carson City girl assaulted at McDonald's

Efforts to help a young girl at a Carson City McDonald's Sunday evening left a San Diego couple bruised and scratched, and their opinion of the people here tarnished.

"We were having the most awesome experience in Carson City, picnicking and visiting Lake Tahoe," Cheryl Ramirez said. "We'd stopped at McDonald's for an ice cream. There we saw a man forcing a young girl out the door. She was calling for help, and my husband and I came between them.

"Once we did that, we thought the two would separate and the man would leave, but he assaulted my husband, hitting him on the head. The ice cream was flying. It was chaos," she said.

"The man ran out the door, and I ran after him, thinking I'd hold him down until someone came to help me, but no one came. Witnesses called 911, and the police arrived, but everyone just stood there watching. It's a sad and despicable example of a jaded human race," Ramirez.

Ramirez said her husband, Raul, was incapacitated by the blows. By Monday, his jaw had swollen and he was on painkillers.

Ramirez said her bruises and scratches were superficial.

The girl, who was not identified, had red marks on her throat and arms where Kristopher Gordon Fox, 18, of Carson City, allegedly grabbed her. No one was hospitalized after the incident.

According to the police report, Fox was having an argument with his ex-girlfriend when he was asked to leave by McDonald's employees.

Fox remained in jail Monday after his arrest at 7:10 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of North Carson Street for the investigation of false imprisonment, domestic battery and two counts of battery. Justice of the Peace John Tatro set his bail at $10,000.

"I don't like it that my husband is hurt, but I would do it again," Ramirez said. "I come from a different place. You don't do that. You don't wallop anyone."
