Obituary: Robert Cassady

A memorial service for Robert A. Cassady, 55, a Yerington resident for the past three years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness,1000 Highway 339, Yerington.

Mr. Cassady died June 18, 2003, as the result of injuries from a traffic accident.

He was born Jan. 10, 1948, in Newbury, Mich., to Everett and Leona Cassady. The family moved to Bishop, Calif., in 1960.

He married Marlene Lemon in 1969, then married Ann Pettet in 1978.

Mr. Cassady joined the Job Corps in 1966, then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968. He was discharged in 1974 at the rank of SPC-5.

He returned to the Bishop area in 1978, and lived in Fish Lake Valley, Big Pine and Bishop until 2000.

Mr. Cassady was a member of the Kingdom Hall. He loved riding his motorcycle, working on cars, hobby planes, music and classic movies.

Among his survivors are his children Robert, Joseph, Mirandy and Elizabeth; mother, Leona; sister, Marilee Alvarez; and five grandchildren.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
