Obituary: Arthur Thompson

A funeral for Arthur George Thompson, 85, a Reno resident for the past 16 years, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Thompson died May 3, 2003, at Washoe Medical Center. He was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Winnipeg, Canada, to Sidney and Ethel Goss Thompson.

Before moving to Reno, he lived in Southern California.

Mr. Thompson was a well-known international pianist and entertainer throughout Southern California and Northern Nevada. He performed at many venues in Reno, Virginia City and South Lake Tahoe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol in December 1998.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Debra Nevins of Carson City; son, Kennedy of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren Joshua Benke of Carson City and Shelby and Colby Thompson, both of McKinney.
