Obituary: Patrick Moniz

A Mass of Christian burial for Patrick Rodney "Pat" Moniz, 62, a Silver Springs resident for the past two years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Fernley.

A reception will be at the McAtee Building in Silver Springs immediately following the graveside committal service at the cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon.

Mr. Moniz died May 11, 2003, at home. He was born Jan. 16, 1941, in Hilo, Hawaii, to Manuel and Julia DeReis Moniz.

Before moving to Silver Springs, he lived in Hayward, Calif.

Mr. Moniz was a retired truck driver for Consolidated Freightways. He was a member of Teamsters Local 533 and of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Among his survivors are his wife, Avis "Puff"; daughter and son-in law Maureen and Brent Williams and daughter, Elena Moniz, all of Silver Springs; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Rusty England of Carl Junction, Mo., and Kathleen and Erick Hamm of Meridian, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Kelly Moniz of Springfield, Ore.; daughter, Misty Grenamyer of Fallon; mother, Julia Moniz of Hayward, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law Rosemary and John Miranda, of Newark, Calif., and LeAnn and Albert Sandoval, of Fremont, Calif.; brother, Jerry Moniz of San Leandro, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Smith Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
