Robert 'Bob' Smith

A graveside service for Robert "Bob" Smith, 77, a Carson City resident for the past five months, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Feb. 4, 2004, at his home. He was born July 25, 1926, in Terrell, Texas, to Alec and Bessie L. Goodman Smith.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Mount Vernon, Texas, and Greenville, Texas.

Mr. Smith was a musician. He started the Blue Notes Band and later played with Jimmy Dorsey in the Dorsey Band.

He was a florist and owner/operator of a floral shop in Greenville and worked in the business for many years. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Lions Club, both in Greenville and past president of the FTD in California.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Among his survivors are his wife, Doris, of Carson City.

Burial will be in Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
