Bernard C. Walker

A funeral Mass for Bernard C. Walker, 79, of Reno will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright St., Reno.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Walker died June 10, 2004, at home. He was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Sparks to CC and Ann McKenna Walker.

He attended Sparks schools, graduated from Sparks High School, and attended art school in Los Angeles.

He married Delores LaVoy at Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks.

Mr. Walker moved to Austin, where he ran the General Store. After three years, he returned to Sparks, where he worked for Wonder Bread Bakery until 1980. He and his wife built a summer home at Lake Tahoe over several years.

He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

Among his survivors are his wife of Reno; sons Chris of Orangevale, Calif., and John of Carson City; daughters Lorie Johnson and Cathy McCune of Reno, Bernadette Lassaline of Carson City and Marianne Munsterman of Carnelian Bay, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery.

Walton's Funeral Home of Reno is in charge of arrangements.
