Ernst J. 'Ernie' Noack

Ernst J. "Ernie" Noack, 80, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, died Aug. 19, 2005, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Reno. He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Hartford, Conn., to Ernst A. and Julia Stykwell Noack.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in San Clemente, Calif., for 35 years.

Mr. Noack served in the Army Air Force as a B-17 top-turret gunner during World War II and was highly decorated. He was shot down over Germany and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Among his survivors is his wife of 53 years, Carolyn, of Carson City.

Burial will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial Services is in charge of arrangements.
