A memorial service for Edith Florence Griggs, 88, an Oakland, Calif., resident for the past 74 years, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Gall Catholic Church.
Mrs. Griggs died Aug. 25, 2005, in Gardnerville. She was born April 28, 1917, in Oakland to Vincent and Maria Candia.
She married Carl J. Griggs on March 22, 1954, in Union City, Calif.
Mrs. Griggs was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by sisters Rose Candia and Elvira Mazzie and brothers Joseph Candia and Victor Candia.
Among her survivors are her husband of Gardnerville; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen M. and Sylvia A. of Castro Valley, Calif.; grandson, Joseph M. Griggs of Oakland; granddaughter, Anna C. Griggs of Castro Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
