AGC recognizes contractors

Northern Nevada contractors were recognized last week for their ability to complete difficult jobs, manage contracts profitably, provide excellence in customer service and maintain sensitivity to the environment.

Nevada Chapter Associated General Contractors made its annual Pinnacle Awards in a competition judged by AGC members in Idaho.

The winners:

Meeting the challenge of a difficult job: Martin Iron Works (specialty contractor, job over $500,000) for its work on Carson Tahoe Cancer Services Center. Sierra Nevada Construction (general contractor, job under $5 million) for its work on the reconstruction of Sierra and Court streets and Hunter Lake Drive. Granite Construction (general contractor, job over $5 million) for its work on the Reno ReTRAC project.

Excellence in project management: Sierra Nevada Construction (specialty contractor, job over $500,000) for its work on the Costco store in Sparks. Granite Construction (general contractor, project under $5 million) for its improvement of the intersection of Lemmon Drive and Military Road. Q&D Construction (general contractor, project over $5 million) for its work at The Summit Sierra lifestyle center.

Excellence in client services: United Construction Co. (general contractor, project over $5 million) for its work on the Washoe County regional animal shelter.

Sensitivity to the environment: Trammell Crow Construction (general contactor, job over $5 million) for its expansion of the Patagonia Inc. distribution center.

Awards of merit went to A&K Earthmovers Inc. (specialty contractors, sensitivity to the environment, jobs under $500,000) for its work on the Soares Ranch irrigation project and Gardner Engineering (specialty contractors, meeting the challenge of a difficult job, project over $500,000) for its work on the mechanical systems of the Mills B. Lane Justice Center.
