Frozen yogurt franchise plans three locations

A Reno entrepreneur plans to open three franchised frozen yogurt shops in northern Nevada and is scouting northern California locations as well.

The first U-Swirl Frozen Yogurt shop in northern Nevada is scheduled for opening in September at Southtowne Crossing Shopping Center at South Virginia Street and Damonte Ranch Parkway.

The owner of the franchise, Galena Frozen Yogurt Co. LLC, plans additional stores in Sparks and Carson City during the next twelve months.

The company also is scouting retail locations for at least one U-Swirl shop in the Sacramento area.

The Damonte Ranch location is 2,200 square feet. Chris Waizmann and Gary Tremaine of CB Richard Ellis Inc. handled the lease negotiations for the frozen yogurt company.

Galena Frozen Yogurt is owned by Taylor Cohee, vice president of sales and marketing at Pacific West Companies, a Reno-based real estate developer.

U-Swirl International, a subsidiary of Healthy Fast Food Inc. of Henderson, has launched three company-owned stores in the Las Vegas market and plans to open 10 company-owned stores by the end of the year in addition to franchised locations.
