Two-state session on renewables set in Winnemucca

The Humboldt Pershing Sustainable Development Partnership of northern Nevada and the Klamath/Lake County Renewable Energy Working Group of southern Oregon Oregon will sponsor a conference on renewable energy development in the region.

The event is Thursday and Friday at the Winnemucca Convention Center.

Speakers will include representatives of companies involved in generation of electricity from use of geothermal, solar, wind and biomass resources.

Also scheduled are sessions on use of renewable resources on farms and ranches and how communities can plan for renewable development.

Sharlet Berentsen, chair of the event and chair of the Humboldt Pershing Sustainable Development Partnership, said organizers hope to raise awareness of the region's potential for renewable-energy development.

Registration, available at the door or through www.northernnevadapartnership.com is $50.
