Mine resumption on track

Work to resume active mining operations at the Rochester Mine north of Lovelock is on track, and mining activities are expected to resume next year.

About 200 jobs will be created when mining resumes.

Coeur d'Alene Mines, the Idaho company that owns the property, says it expects the Rochester Mine will produce about 30,000 ounces of gold and 2.5 million ounces of silver annually. The mine is projected to produce for six more years.

The property has produced 125 million ounces of silver and 1 million ounces of gold since production began in 1986. Active mining was suspended in 2007, although the company continued processing of previously mined ores.
