Mine safety contest in Reno

The Mine Safety and Health Administration said last week it will continue to hold its Metal and Nonmetal National Mine Rescue Competition at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The agency said it compared Reno's location, availability of convention floor space, hospitality rates, airfare, other travel expenses and government per diem rates against those in Denver and Dallas in making its decision.

The rescue competition has been in Reno since 2002.
