Carson redevelopment committee to select 'Main Street Miracle Worker' awardee for 2011

The Carson City Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee is scheduled this week to nominate and select a person or business for the 2011 Main Street Miracle Worker Award for efforts that improved the redevelopment district.

The committee also will hear staff updates on redevelopment projects and the budget.

The committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

• The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization meets at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the community center.

The organization is scheduled to hear a status update to the CAMPO travel demand model for 2011, and forecasts for 2020 and 2035. • The Carson City Regional Transportation Commission meets immediately after the CAMPO meeting Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the community center.

The commission is scheduled to consider approving an amendment to a highway agreement for the Moffat Open Space Connection Project; approving an amendment to a highway agreement for the Carson City Gateway Signage Project; accepting completed work and releasing final payment, $12,800, for the Carson City ADA Improvement Project; and accepting completed work and approving final payment of $7,411 for the Long Line Striping Project on various Carson City streets. • The Carson City Historic Resources Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the community center.

Commissioners are scheduled to approve a request from Josh Burau Construction to convert a carport into a garage at 402 Phillips St.; discuss the role of the commission from its inception in 1982 to today; hear a presentation by Mara Thiessen Jones regarding the secretary of the interior's standards and guidelines; discuss and possibly consider Historic Preservation Fund grant projects for 2012; and discuss the Historic Preservation Fund grant for 2011.
