Obituary: Hilda Christensen

June 3, 1928 - October 3, 2011

While growing up in Winter Haven, Florida, Hilda studied piano for 13 years. She attended Orlando Business College, and then Florida State University for two years majoring in piano with a minor in voice before joining the United States Navy where she fell in love with and married Robert (Chris) Eugene Christensen. They moved to Nevada in 1953, where Robert served as a Nevada State Highway Patrolman until his untimely death at age 32. Hilda resided in Carson City and worked for the State of Nevada for more than 45 years in many high level capacities, primarily as an

accountant and also as an executive secretary. She could never have predicted that the Nevada State Legislature and the Governor would cut her life insurance benefit in half and adversely compromise her health insurance benefits.

She is survived by her daughter and only child, Patricia Ann Christensen Woodard, grand-daughter, Paige Michele Sargent, sister Myrtice Weller, and a brother Donald Howze.

Hilda will be profoundly missed by her daughter and her dear, lifelong friend Yhvona Martin. A memorial service is pending.
