Community comes together with donationsI would like to thank the various businesses and individuals in Carson City that made our annual Christmas dinner and gift drive for the Focus House such a huge success.A special thank-you to Bodines Casino for the generous donation of numerous warm coats for the men. Also, we thank Casino Fandango, Comstock Casino, and Jackpot Crossing Casinos for donating coats to the cause. We Thank the Horseshoe Club for your generous donation as well. Thank You Play It Again Sports for the gloves and hats and we thank C-A-L Ranch for donating gloves as well.A special thank you to Renee and Dan Riggs for your assistance in preparing all the food and helping to deliver it to the House. SmithCarson CityBe a Santa to a Senior was a successOn behalf of the staff at Home Instead Senior Care, I would like to thank everyone who helped with this year’s very successful Be a Santa to a Senior program.With support from generous shoppers, Health and Human Service Division, Department of Public Safety, Nevada Appeal, Ron Wood Family Resource Center, WalMart Superstores North and South Carson City, we were able to collect more than 327 gifts for local seniors who otherwise might have been overlooked this holiday season.We also would like to thank the many volunteers who shared their time to collect, wrap and deliver the gifts to Carson City area seniors who continue to struggle during these tough economic times.Thanks to all those who helped us brighten the holidays for our local seniors and truly making a difference in our community.Joan M.
