Obituary: Lee Hallett Burnham

Lee Burnham passed away Oct. 28, 2012. He was 102 years old. He was a long time resident of Nev., having come to Nev. in 1929.

He was born in Ogden, Utah to George and Hattie Burnham, one of four children, one brother and two sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Marion; his son, John (Margaret); and five great grandchildren.

Lee entered Military service with the Nevada National Guard to become a veteran of World War II. He landed on Utah Beach on D-Day and fought through France and Belgium to enter Berlin and to serve during the early days of Berlin occupation. He ended his military service with retirement as a Colonel from the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Paris, France in June, 1961.

Upon return to Nev. he went to work for the Nevada Employment Security Department becoming its director at the time of his retirement.

He loved golf and was active with the old gang at the Mill's Park Golf Corner and in plans for developing a new course in Carson City.

Even in old age, his quick wit and keen sense of humor brought smiles and laughs to all who encountered him. We miss him greatly.

At his request, there will be no service, only a military salute in attendance by his immediate family only.
