The Gazette says that readers now and then like to go around and borrow a neighbor's newspaper and leaf around until he gets the news from it, then run it down as not worth taking and then beg the editor now and then for an editorial line. We like to see those mechanics refuse to advertise, but benefit from the trade a newspaper brings to town. We like to see this. It looks thrifty.

The little town of Empire, considered deserted and a historic point, is also a strategic point when it comes to elections. Every campaign the boys look to Empire. About forty votes are rolled up all in one place. The Empire boys hold a whip hand just the same.

Mr. John E. Bills, former member of the local high school faculty, has completed his naval training at Chicago and will report for duty at Key West, Fla., for sea duty.
