Nominations open for annual 'Best Places to Work' contest

Nominations are open for the fifth annual Greater Reno-Tahoe "Best Places to Work" contest.

The Best Places to Work initiative recognizes employers that have developed strong workplace relations with employees and have fostered a positive work environment. More than 40 communities across the nation participate in the program.

The contest is open to regional companies with 15 or more full-time employees working at least 30 hours each week. Nominations are open through February 22. Employees or managers can nominate their own companies or another organization, and private and public firms, as well as government and non-profit agencies, are encouraged to participate.

Nominations can be placed through the Northern Nevada Human Resources Association Web site (nnhra.org). Once the nomination phase is completed, Quantum Market Research will conduct employee surveys at participating companies to further gauge employee satisfaction and provide a more comprehensive overview of participating organizations. The survey results are used to determine the 2013 Best Places to Work awards.

Finalists and winners will be notified starting on March 30 and will be recognized during the competition's annual awards ceremony to be held April 25.

The event is sponsored by NNHRA, Truckee Meadows Community College, University of Nevada, Reno School of Business, The Chamber, Carson City Chamber of Commerce and Northern Nevada Business Weekly.
