Dayton man promoted to sergeant in Hawaii

Sgt. Ryan Raymond Tookey of Dayton, Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, was promoted from specialist to sergeant by his wife, Katie Tookey, during a ceremony Nov. 1 at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii.

Carson grad completes basic training in Texas

Air Force Airman Alexander O. Crounk graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

Crounk, a 2008 graduate of Carson High School, completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Crounk is the son of Orey Crounk of Carson City.
