Library launches summer reading program

Spark a reaction this summer at the Carson City Library as you discover the world of science. The 2014 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adults, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, a reading club and more.

There’s a Read-to-Me portion of the program families are invited to join as well.

Registration for the Summer Reading Program has begun and continues Saturday at the annual Kiwanis Breakfast for Books, 8-10 a.m. on the library lawn.

Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased in advance at the library’s Information Service Desk or pay at the door. Prices are $6 for adults, $3 for kids and $15 for families.

Pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee will be served by Kiwanis of Carson City. Entertainment for children will include a performance by local personality Chris Bayer. Other activities include face painting and a book sale sponsored by Friends of the Carson City Library. Sponsors of this annual summertime event are Kiwanis Club of Carson City and Friends of the Carson City Library.

Kiwanis will donate proceeds from the breakfast to the library’s Youth Department. For more information call 887-2244 ext. 1006.
