Western Nevada College is looking for student and independent filmmakers to submit their work for possible viewing at the upcoming Carson City International Film Festival scheduled Feb. 5-7.
Filmmakers must submit an original video of up to 90 minutes in length and in DVD format to WNC by Monday, Dec. 1.
The film should illustrate global awareness and diversity with an understanding of social issues facing humanity. It must also include a significant degree of film craft. Films may take many formats — narrative, documentary, live-action or animation.
Winning films will be screened at Western Nevada College as part of its Film Weekend, which includes free afternoon and evening film showings followed by refreshments and informal discussions. Monetary prizes will also be awarded.
Afternoon screenings at WNC will spotlight the independently made films selected by the International Film Weekend Committee, while evening viewings at the Community Center will feature three international films, including: the New Zealand film “Boy” and the Basque film “Obaba.”
The event is sponsored by WNC, the Carson City Public Library, and the Carson City Community Center.
Entry costs $25 or $10 for students. Only one entry is permitted per person. Entry forms are available at http://internationalfilmweekendcarsoncity.com.
