80-year-old prisoner dies at Northern Nevada Correction Center

Prison officials say an 80-year-old inmate serving a life sentence for second-degree murder and a weapons charge has died.

The Nevada Department of Corrections said Tuesday that inmate De Rac Hanley died the day before at the Northern Nevada Correction Center’s medical facility.

The agency says Hanley began serving a sentence of 20 years to life with parole in January 2007.

The Carson City Sheriff’s coroner is conducting an autopsy.
