Accident. While taking a sabbath stroll in his garden, Mr. Pixley dropped his silver dollar. It rolled and dropped through a crack in the boarded walk. He looked closely to the aperture in which the dollar disappeared and saw his shining coin below. He attempted to get up to search for a tarred stick and found his nose had hooked to the underside of the plank, and he couldn’t remove it. Screams brought assistance from one of the Pope’s Irish employed in Mr. Pixley’s kitchen and set him free with a crowbar.

County seat. Tonopah asked to be the county seat of Nye County because the town of Belmont is so far away and inaccessible. Tonopah is the early railroad point and the only highway between the great interior of Nye County.

Birth registration campaign. “Baby” will benefit from registration in Nevada’s “Register Your Baby” campaign and the application mailed to Washington. Now a child will know their name, date and place of birth, parent’s name, etc., and will be on record at Washington, D.C., and Carson City.
