No need for new execution chamber

Spending $858,539 to build a new execution chamber is worse than “building a bridge to nowhere.”

There hasn’t been an execution in Nevada in nine years and only one is planned in the next two years. If the chamber is built, there is not a drug available to use in the chamber.

If there is ever a need for an execution in Nevada, we could use a firing squad like Utah or contract it to Texas, which has plenty of practice.

The $858,539 could be put to better use by converting the old prison to a museum, moving the train museum next to the prison, building a station for the train to Virginia City, and a building for raft trips, restaurants and shops. This would make Carson City a major tourist destination.
