Fourth of July preparation. The Fourth of July Committee of Arrangement have got along admirably in perfecting their plans, and called on us last night to say that they will issue their invitations today. The committee has engaged Wagner & Klein’s Hall, which is 75 by 50 feet in dimensions for a grand ball.

130 years ago

Two passenger coaches have been fitted up for the V&T. They are glaring yellow, striped with Maroon. An sort of old orange color that used up all the yellow ochre in the shop.

100 years ago

Carson looks to having Carson Street paved for the first time. Since then, holes were filled with dirt, then the dirt ground to dust, or washed away. In a front page editorial, the Appeal urges work start soon.

The 82nd birthday anniversary of Warren Engine Co. No. 1, Carson City’s fire department, will be celebrated tomorrow at a banquet to be held at the Traveler’s cafe.

A handful of Carson City teens learned a great deal about the workings of government during Girls State which culminated at the state capital Saturday.
