Our proposition — we hereby propose that the authorities of the different states shall at once declare that Confederate uniform be henceforth the garb of all convicts sentenced in the state penitentiaries for ordinary crimes and that the uniform worn by Confederate officers be that for the criminals of higher grade. — Chicago Journal.

The shooting scrape. Officer Furlong arrested John Davis after his shooting Kelley. He found him in a deserted house and had to break the door down to take him. He said that Kelley followed him, and he was sorry he didn’t kill him.

Accompanied by A.F. Bement and E. Eisenhurst, H.P. Joy of the Packard Auto company and president of the Lincoln Highway association, they arrived this morning en route to California and met with a party of citizens at Lakeview and then entertained at a luncheon at the Arlington Hotel.

Virginia City has set Aug. 13-15 for this year’s annual Camel and Ostrich Races. Last year thousands saw Harvey’s Wagon Wheel of Stateline capture the National Championship in the Camel Races.

Nevada Boy’s State sponsored by the American Legion starts today at the Naval Air Station in Fallon. Local boys from Carson City and Douglas County will participate in the training of the “functional aspects” of citizenship.
