Community spotlight: Carson City’s Donnelly up for World Paddle junior award

World champion Sage Donnelly has been nomimated for the World Paddle Awards Sports Junior of the Year for the second straight year and the public can help her make it to the final round.

The 15-year-old Donnelly from Carson City won the title in the International Canoe Federation Junior Women’s Freestyle Kayak World Championships last month at Ottawa River, Canada.

The World Paddler Awards involve social media voting — which counts for 50 percent — as well as a panel of top paddling judges, which counts for the other 50 percent. Last year, Donnelly finished second to last in social media voting, but made it to the top three with the judges panel even without winning an international title.

To vote for Donnelly, visit http://www.worldpaddleawards.com/nominees/2015-sage-donnelly and scroll down to the bottom. Members of Facebook, Twitter and Google + can vote through liking Donnelly by clicking on all those social media icons. Those who aren’t on social media can also like Donnelly by clicking on the big thumb to the right. Those voting can use all four methods, which counts as four votes for Donnelly.
