The Business Weekly is proud to announce new addition

The Northern Nevada Business Weekly is proud to announce the addition of a new employee and promotion of another.

Brook Bentley has joined NNBW as digital content manager, a newly created position to oversee the online and social media content of the news outlet.

Sally Roberts has been promoted from reporter to print content manager and will oversee editorial content for the newspaper’s weekly print publication.

“We’re pleased to welcome Brook to the team and to have Sally take on a leadership role,” NNBW General Manager James Arden said. “Together their skill sets will help the NNBW achieve new heights and reach our vision for the future of the publication.”

Bentley graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in journalism and media studies and recently completed an apprenticeship with an online publication that furthered her knowledge in editing and managing digital content. In addition, she carries a business savvy background with experience as an executive assistant as well as a background in marketing.

Having worked in a variety of positions for different companies provides Bentley a great understanding of business-to-business communication that she plans on applying to the digital content manager position she has taken on with NNBW.

“I am Nevada proud,” Bentley commented. “Growing up in Tahoe and having spent most of my time since college in Reno has me motivated to see the area continue to thrive. Being on board with the NNBW to account for all of the new and exciting business in the area as it is happening has me really excited.”

In addition to her new position with NNBW, she is working on applying to the MBA program at UNR.

Roberts has been covering news in the Lake Tahoe/northwestern Nevada region for 30 years, mostly for properties owned by Swift Communications, NNBW’s parent company.

She began her journalism career at the Tahoe Daily Tribune, covering a variety of beats before settling into business coverage. At various times, Roberts served as business reporter, news editor and features editor in both print and Internet content in newsrooms that included The Record-Courier, Tahoe.com/Reno.com, and the Nevada Appeal. A year ago, she joined the staff at the NNBW. For the last few months, Roberts has served as interim editor at the NNBW.

“There’s so much going in northern Nevada right now,” Roberts said. “It’s an exciting time to be covering business in the region. I’m looking forward to helping direct business coverage in the NNBW’s print edition as well as continuing to delve into hot topics and explain them to our readers.”
