D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal president Ken Dillon announced Haley Carlson has been hired as the company’s new administrative assistant.

Prior to coming to work for D & D, Carlson worked to open the new Reno Truck Center at Reno GMC where she was employed from August of last year until she was hired at D & D. Before that she spent seven years as operations manager for Greatwide Dedicated Transport.

“I am confident,” said Dillon, “that Haley with her experience will be able to handle the complex duties of the job.”

Carlson was born and raised in Reno and has a 10-year-old son. “Both my son and I are heavily involved in Velocity baseball,” she added.

Lowe’s, Home Depot to add 1,300 seasonal jobs in Nevada

The Retail Association of Nevada says home improvement chains have announced plans to hire nearly 1,300 seasonal jobs in Nevada.

The hiring by Lowe’s and Home Depot is timed to increased consumer demand tied to the arrival of warmer weather.

Lowe’s officials told the association it will add an average of 25 workers per store — which will add up to more than 400 jobs at the chain’s 17 Nevada locations.

Most of those — about 300 jobs — would be at the 13 southern Nevada stores but more than 100 would be added up north.

In addition, a spokesman said Home Depot plans to add some 40 positions per store, which equates to more than 800 seasonal hires in Nevada, about 300 of them outside southern Nevada.
